Unless the fan assembly breaks this is simply a mechanical phenomenon that you can live with.
Frigidaire refrigerator ice maker making knocking noise.
The water inlet valve is an electrically controlled valve that opens to supply water to the refrigerator dispenser and icemaker.
Over time mineral deposits can accumulate inside the valve and restrict the water flow.
For the ice maker to work properly it must have a water line connection that is turned on.
There was no ice storage bin and no water connection and the ice maker wire shutoff arm was in the off position up.
If you recently moved the fridge a broken connection could prevent the ice maker from working.
I ended up replacing it and it now works fine however since that time we ve noticed when the ice maker is making ice it makes a knocking noise that seems to be getting loud.
Noises not to worry about.
Pulling out the electrical connector linking the ice maker to the the inside of the freezer fixed the loud noises.
